Collection of Indiana geodes and crystal specimens hand-found in Bedford, Indiana

Found, Not Manufactured

I've been hunting rocks across Indiana for years — creek beds in Lawrence County, road cuts near Bedford, the rolling hills around Brown County State Park. Every geode in this shop, I found and cracked open myself.

If you're not from around here, you might be surprised to learn that southern Indiana is one of the best places in the world to find geodes. The limestone bedrock that makes up most of the state is hundreds of millions of years old — back when this was all warm, shallow ocean. Pockets of gas got trapped in the sediment. Over time, mineral-rich water seeped in and crystals grew, layer by layer, hidden inside ordinary-looking stones. They sit in creek beds and roadside cuts for centuries until somebody comes along and cracks one open.

That somebody is me. This isn't a warehouse operation. It's a one-person hobby that got a little out of hand. I walk creek beds with a backpack and a chisel, sometimes for whole afternoons before I find anything worth carrying home. Once they're cleaned up and photographed, the special ones end up here for sale. The rest go on a shelf at home.

Every rock you see on this site is one of a kind — what's in the photo is exactly what ships to your door. No two geodes are alike, even ones I find side by side. That's part of what makes them feel a little magical to me. I hope you find one that does the same for you.

Thanks for stopping by.
